I didn't know which job I wanted to do when I left school. I had got five GCSE exams: English Language C, English Literature B, History C, Religious Education C and Maths C. I didn't want to go on to the sixth form to do A Levels. I wanted to get into a good career that was well paid. I went to see a careers officer. She said that the business world would suit me.

On the way home that day I bought the local newspaper. There were a few jobs in business advertised. One job was for a secretary at a dentist in Bath and another was a job for a marketing assistant in Bristol. What really caught my eye was a job as a trainee broker for a company doing insurance for the motor trade. I really was keen on cars and had began studying for my theory test. I would take it as soon as I reached seventeen. Then I would be able to begin car driving lessons.

I rang up Gray's insurance for motor trade. I told them I was interested in their job for trainee broker. I asked them if they would send me an application form. I filled out the form as soon as I got it. I noticed that the salary was £15,000 so I thought wow. Three days after the closing date I got a letter that invited me to an interview at Gray's insurance for Motor Trade. I rushed off to buy a suite to wear to the interview.

I felt so nervous the morning of my interview at Grey's Insurance Motor Trade. I need not have done so because the director, Bill, was so welcoming to me. His secretary gave me a coffee and some biscuits to eat. He gave me some questions like why did I want to work for Grey's Insurance for Motor Trade. He seemed to like all my answers. At the end to the interview he said I was successful and he offered me a job as a trainee broker at Grey's Insurance for Motor Trade. Happily I accepted.

I began working there on Monday the following week. Charlotte my colleague showed me how to do a quote for insurance for cars. At the end of my first day I just knew I would love working at Grey's Insurance for Motor Trade. They surprised me when on my seventeenth birthday they gave me a birthday card with a package of car driving lessons. I had been delighted and it had only taken me four months to learn to drive. On my eighteenth birthday they gave me a company car.
